Zinc Alloy Die Casting Gooseneck

Zinc Alloy Die Casting Gooseneck

Installation
The gooseneck assembly is pre-assembled during the complete machine assembly. When the machine is delivered to the customer site, the gooseneck assembly shall be removed first, and reinstalled onto the machine after the melting furnace is fully installed. The gooseneck assembly is mounted on the machine vertical base, which serves to inject and deliver molten alloy liquid. The installation procedures are as follows:
1. Place the gooseneck on the arch platform of the vertical base, ensuring the side surface of the gooseneck protrudes 1~3mm beyond the side fitting surface of the vertical base.
2. Install the two upper clamping plates on the gooseneck first, tighten them moderately with an open-end wrench, then fit the side clamping plates.
3. Tighten the 4 screws on the side clamping plates evenly and alternately with an Allen wrench;
4. Further tighten the screws of the two upper clamping plates alternately using an open-end wrench.
Requirements: A thin layer of high-temperature grease shall be coated on the external threads of all clamping plate screws before installation. Our company currently adopts "OPAX High Temperature Grease" produced by OPAX Petroleum Company.

Operating Requirements:
1. The gooseneck of the assembly is heated by cartridge heaters or heating rings. During normal machine operation, the heating temperature shall be controlled at 420 ℃: ① When using cartridge heaters, maintain the temperature at 420℃; ② When using heating rings, keep the gooseneck passage unobstructed before startup to prevent blockage by solidified zinc alloy and failed metal injection;
2. The chemical composition of die-casting zinc alloy must comply with GB/T 13818-92. Impurity content has a great influence on the corrosion resistance of the gooseneck.
Detailed Maintenance Regulations
1. Before use, the casting surface of the gooseneck must be coated with NC8 acid-proof paint to avoid corrosion; (This coating is completed before factory delivery)
2. Keep the temperature of molten zinc alloy inside the crucible between 410~430℃. Excessively high temperature will sharply increase the corrosiveness of molten zinc alloy, resulting in corrosion of the gooseneck body and shot sleeve, jamming of the injection plunger, and shortened service life of the gooseneck.
(Molten zinc alloy appears off-white at normal temperature; dark red color indicates excessive temperature)
3. Inspect the furnace thermocouple probe every half month: pull out the probe, wipe its surface thoroughly, check for corrosion damage, and replace it promptly once corrosion is found;
4. Remove alloy dross floating on the surface of molten zinc alloy in the crucible in a timely manner. If dross enters the gooseneck shot sleeve, it will scratch the piston ring, injection plunger and shot sleeve, and may permanently jam the plunger in severe cases;
5. Add alloy ingots regularly to keep the molten zinc alloy level above the specified line inside the crucible. Too low liquid level will allow molten metal to flow into the shot sleeve and lock the injection plunger;
6. The zinc alloy material must be kept clean, free of moisture, oil stains and other impurities;
7. Use a nozzle body whose taper matches the tapered bore of the gooseneck perfectly.
8. If molten metal leakage occurs at the gooseneck tapered bore, remove the nozzle body immediately: first clean residual molten alloy from the tapered surface of the nozzle body, then clear the alloy residue inside the gooseneck tapered bore, and finally reinstall the nozzle body in accordance with the installation steps;
(Refer to the Nozzle Body Operation Manual for details)
9. For intermittent downtime (die change, die repair and other shutdown periods), lower the temperature of the gooseneck and nozzle body below 380℃ to reduce corrosion on both components
(Note: Raise the temperature of the gooseneck and nozzle body back to the required working temperature before resuming die casting production)
10. For long-term production shutdown: remove the injection plunger before stopping operation, scoop out two-thirds of the molten alloy liquid, and ensure the furnace thermocouple probe is always immersed in the molten alloy.
11. Replace wearing parts periodically: piston ring (recommended every 45 days), injection plunger (recommended every 4 months);
12. No foreign debris shall fall into the shot sleeve during disassembly and assembly of the injection plunger and piston ring.
